Your software vendors have professional negotiators. Shouldn't you?

Independent software procurement advisory for Australian businesses. We negotiate your software contracts using global pricing benchmarks and deliver an average 19.5% saving across the enterprise software estate. We only get paid when we save you money. Vendor neutral. No vendor sales target. Just better commercial outcomes.

Start with a free spend auditSee how it works

Most Australian companies overpay for software. Here's why.

Software licensing is one of the largest line items in most IT budgets, and it's the one that gets the least commercial scrutiny. Renewals roll around, the vendor sends a quote, and someone signs it. Maybe with a small discount for being a good customer.

Here's what's actually happening behind that quote.

Australian companies pay 20 to 40 percent more than their European and North American counterparts for the same software. The same licence, from the same vendor, at a higher price. It's been called the “Australia Tax” for good reason.

Your reseller or MSP earns a margin on every licence they sell you. When the renewal comes up, they're not incentivised to negotiate a lower price. Lower price means lower margin. The advice you're getting about your software spend comes from someone whose income depends on you spending more.

Most companies don't have a dedicated software procurement function. The renewal lands with IT or finance, nobody has benchmark data, and the vendor's opening offer becomes the final price. Vendors know this. They plan for it.

This is the gap we fill. Independent software procurement advisory, backed by global pricing benchmarks, with a pure and focused mandate of getting the best value for you, the customer.

Three steps. No obligation until we prove the savings.

1

We audit your software spend

We review your current software contracts, licence entitlements, and renewal timeline. We map this against global benchmark data covering thousands of comparable transactions. This tells us exactly where you're overpaying, by how much, and when the best intervention point is.

The audit is free. If there's nothing to save, we'll tell you.

2

We negotiate with your vendors on your behalf

You provide us with a Letter of Authority (a simple email will do), which gives us permission to discuss licensing terms with your software vendors. We handle the commercial negotiation using pricing data your vendors don't expect you to have.

Your existing IT partners, consultants and support providers continue to do their work. Nothing changes in your environment. We're negotiating the commercial terms of the contract, not the technical configuration.

3

You keep the savings

Our fee is a percentage of verified savings only. If we don't save you money, you pay nothing. Savings are measured against your current contract terms, not against list price.

Billing is linked to your vendor's licence cycle. If the saving applies to a two-year agreement billed monthly, we invoice monthly over that period. Transparent and predictable.

Vendor agnostic.

Some software asset management firms in Australia focus exclusively on Microsoft licensing. We cover the full enterprise software estate, because overspending rarely stops at one vendor.

This includes Enterprise Agreements, cloud subscriptions, SaaS platforms, security tooling, DevOps licensing and collaboration tools. If it appears on your software invoice, it's in scope.

Whether you're approaching a Microsoft EA renewal, renegotiating your Atlassian contract, or questioning why your security tooling costs doubled at renewal, we bring the same process and the same benchmark data.

Independent advisor vs. reseller-advisor. It matters.

These savings are calculated against what the client was going to pay, not against a theoretical list price. If the renewal quote is $500,000 and we negotiate it to $400,000, the saving is $100,000. That's the number our fee is based on. Real, verified, auditable.

The range matters. A 54% saving on Okta tells you something different from a 15% saving on Netskope. Some vendors have more flexibility in their commercial models than others. We know where the room is because we've negotiated with all of them before.

Software asset management, licence negotiation, and commercial advisory. All in one engagement.

This isn't just about getting a discount on your next renewal. We provide a structured approach to software procurement that most organisations don't have the internal capacity to run.

Software spend audit and benchmarking

We map your entire software estate: what you own, what you use, what you're paying, and when each contract renews. We then benchmark every line item against comparable transactions from our global dataset. This gives you a clear picture of where you sit relative to the market.

Licence reconciliation and optimisation

Before we negotiate, we check whether you're actually using what you're paying for. Shelfware, over-provisioned licences and unused entitlements are common. Rightsizing your estate before renewal is often the single biggest savings lever.

Commercial negotiation

We negotiate directly with your vendors. We use benchmark data, competitive pressure, and commercial strategies built from thousands of prior negotiations. We know how vendors price, how they discount, and where the flexibility sits in their commercial models.

Contract and renewal management

We track your renewal dates and ensure you're never caught off guard by a renewal deadline. Vendors love last-minute renewals because the customer has no time to negotiate. We make sure you're starting the conversation six to nine months before expiry.

Cloud cost optimisation

For cloud platforms like Azure, AWS and GCP, we assess your consumption patterns and identify right-sizing opportunities, reserved instance savings, and licensing model changes that reduce your monthly bill.

Local presence. Global capability.

TeamDon is a Brisbane-based technology services firm with over 20 years of experience in software delivery, team building and technical consulting. We know the Australian market, and we know how Australian companies buy and use software.

Our software procurement advisory is delivered through a strategic partnership with a specialist procurement firm that has spent over five years building the benchmark data, vendor relationships and negotiation methodologies that make this service work. They operate across Europe, Africa and Australia, giving us access to global pricing intelligence that simply isn't available to most Australian buyers.

The partnership works because we bring different things to the table. We bring the local relationships, the Australian market knowledge and the trust of being your existing technology partner. They bring the procurement expertise, the global data and the vendor negotiation playbook.

You deal with TeamDon. We handle the engagement, the communication and the relationship. The specialist capability works behind the scenes, the same way a barrister works behind a solicitor.

Common questions

No. We're vendor-neutral. Think of us as a buyer's agent for software. We represent your commercial interests in negotiations with vendors. We have no reseller agreements, no partner tiers, and no volume incentives from any software vendor.
Nothing changes. Your MSP continues to manage your environment. Your consultants continue their projects. Your support provider keeps supporting you. We negotiate the commercial terms of your software contracts. That's a separate activity from technical delivery, and the two sit comfortably side by side.
Professional commercial negotiation is normal in every other category of enterprise spend. Your legal team negotiates contracts. Your procurement team negotiates with suppliers. Software is the one category where many organisations accept the vendor's first offer. Vendors negotiate commercially every day. They expect it.
You don't need to. You provide us with a Letter of Authority (a simple email will do), giving us permission to discuss licensing matters on your behalf. We then make contact with the vendor. It's standard commercial process. Consulting companies understand it.
We work on a no-savings, no-fee basis. If we can't find savings, you pay nothing. Our fee is a percentage of the total verified savings we deliver. The audit and initial assessment are free.
Billing is aligned to your vendor's licence cycle. If we negotiate savings on a two-year agreement billed monthly, we invoice monthly over that period. If it's an annual contract, we invoice annually. This keeps our fees predictable and directly tied to the value we deliver.
Everything from major enterprise platforms like Microsoft, Adobe and Salesforce through to specialist tools like Splunk, Elastic, Palo Alto, Okta and Netskope. If it's on your software invoice and has a commercial contract behind it, we can review it.
Managing licensing and negotiating it are different things. Your MSP handles renewals, processes paperwork, and ensures continuity. That's valuable. But they earn a margin on the licences they resell, so they're not incentivised to push for the lowest price. We are, because our fee only exists when we save you money.
That's actually the strongest signal that there was room to negotiate all along. Our role is to make sure you always have that benchmark, not just when someone forces the conversation.
The initial spend audit typically takes two to four weeks, depending on the complexity of your software estate. Negotiations with vendors vary, but we start engaging well before your renewal deadline. For best results, engage us six to nine months before a major renewal.
